Through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United States has already provided DTEK with critical equipment for power grid repair crews, including truck towers, pickup trucks, transformers, and electrical cable.
The European Commission allocates 62.8 million euros for equipment and materials for the restoration of generating capacities. The US government is providing $46.1 million to purchase control systems and dozens of new transformers critical to providing power to millions of people.
“The United States is proud to support Ukraine’s energy resilience with this critically important aid package. By providing $46.1 million for control systems and new transformers, we are helping restore and strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to protect against unprovoked Russian attacks,” said Assistant State US Secretary of Energy Jeffrey Payette.
It is noted that through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United States has already provided DTEK with important equipment for power grid repair crews, including masts, pickup trucks, transformers, and electrical cable.
“We are deeply grateful for the continued support of the United States, the European Commission and the leadership of the Ministry of Energy in providing this very important assistance. No country in the world has faced such attacks on its energy system, but with the help of our partners we continue to stand strong against Russia’s energy terror This support is a recognition of the systemically important role of DTEK in providing Ukraine with electricity and our operational efforts to restore thousands of megawatts. capacities,” noted DTEK General Director Maksym Timchenko.
It will be recalled that 90% of DTEK’s generating capacity was destroyed as a result of Russian attacks. As Reuters notes, the missile strikes carried out by Russia on November 17 hit three of the five working DTEK thermal power plants, and one of them is still not working.
It was previously reported that during the full-scale war, DTEK invested more than $1 billion of its own funds in Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including repairs and restoration of destroyed power plants.
