Europe boasts some of the most famous Christmas markets in the world, but their popularity tends to attract huge crowds, which can be a deterrent for many visitors, the Express writes.Wizz Air has analyzed more than 35 popular European markets to find hidden gems that are expected to get less crowded than their more popular counterparts.
The top three were as follows:
- Sibiu (Romania);
- Saranda (Albania);
- Esslingen (Germany).
It is noted that the city of Sibiu in Romania is a “UNESCO European Capital of Culture”. It is known for its medieval architecture, cobbled streets and bright squares:
“The Christmas market takes place in the city’s historic Piata Mare square, surrounded by beautiful Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance buildings.”
Here, visitors can taste traditional Romanian dishes such as michi (fried sausages), sarmale (pigeon dumplings) and kozonac (sweet bread with nut filling).
The fair offers authentic Romanian holiday traditions, a wide selection of local products, food and drinks that visitors may not find in large European markets.
Christmas 2024 – latest newsWe previously reported that Christmas and New Year’s holidays will be held in Kyiv this year without mass gatherings and events, fairs and entertainment, in compliance with safety requirements and the regime for limiting the use of electricity.
It also became known when the main Christmas tree of Ukraine will be installed in the capital. As in previous years, it will shine on Sofia Square. The New Year beauty will be installed at the expense of patrons.
