“We agreed. The decision to provide Ukraine with support in the amount of 90 billion euros for 2026-27 has been approved. We made a commitment and fulfilled it,” Koshta said.
The President of the European Council did not specify which financing scheme is in question, but according to the EP, the option of joint borrowing, which will be carried out by the European Union, has been approved. This decision required approval based on the principle of unanimity.
Friedrich Mertz clarified that the funds will also go to Kyiv’s military needs.
“These funds are enough to cover the military and budgetary needs of Ukraine for the next two years. This is a decisive signal for the end of the war, because Putin will make concessions only when he realizes that his war will not bring him any benefits,” the German Chancellor said.
Earlier, EuroPravda reported that the EU Summit reached an impasse regarding the reparation loan, had to go to plan Bwhich eventually worked.
The President of the EuroCouncil, Antonio Costa, promised that the leaders will not leave the summit without a decision on money for Ukraine.
