It is noted that since the beginning of the full -scale invasion of Russia, three and a half years ago, the EU has already provided Ukraine with almost 160 billion euros. This includes a package of 50 billion euros of grants and loans, calculated by 2027. In addition, together with the Seven Group countries, the EU has created a separate credit mechanism for $ 50 billion due to income from frozen Russian assets.

The new fund is planned to be implemented by a similar model: the European Commission will provide funding in the form of grants and cheap loans. Most payments will be related to the reforms necessary for the integration of Ukraine into the EU.

The proposal is expected to be the subject of discussion in the publication of the next Many -year EU financial program, which is scheduled for July 16. Although some details may be made public later, Bloomberg interlocutors say.

The EU Economics Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis told reporters on Tuesday that the EU is currently working on different options to provide funding for next year.

“The block is ready to provide all the necessary support to Ukraine as much as it will be needed,” Dombrovskis stressed.

He also noted that the European Commission considers options for increasing the volume of assistance not only at the expense of the EU budget but also at the expense of “income from frozen Russian sovereign assets” after the International Monetary Fund evaluates the potential funding shortage of Ukraine.
