According to the version of the Russian investigation, on March 4, 2022, the commander of the mortar battery gave “an order to carry out indiscriminate shelling of residential buildings and important objects of civil infrastructure in the East district of the city of Mariupol.”
The occupiers accused Ruslan Minagulov of allegedly firing at least 10 shots from a 120 mm 2M12 “Sani” mortar. According to the Russians, as a result of the shelling, a civilian woman and a man were killed on 9 Travnya and Kyivska Streets in Mariupol.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation stated that during the preliminary investigation, Minagulov allegedly fully admitted his guilt and repented of what he had done.
The occupiers accused the “Azov” fighter of committing crimes under two articles.
He was found guilty of committing the crimes provided for in part. 1 Art. 356 (cruel treatment of the civilian population, use of prohibited means and methods in armed conflict) and items “a”, “e”, “zh” and “l” h. 2 Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of two or more persons, committed by a group of persons in a generally dangerous manner for reasons of ideological and political hatred)
The occupation court sentenced Minagulov to 24 years in prison, to be served in a strict regime colony.
