The former chief designer of TsKB-Titan died in Russian Volgograd Valerian Sobolev. Under his leadership, the launchers of the Iskander and Topol missile complexes, from which Russia is currently firing at Ukraine, were created.

Details: Sobolev was 87 years old. It is not known what exactly caused the death. It is only reported that the designer died after a “severe and prolonged illness”.

Sobolev began his career as a design engineer at the Volgograd Tractor Plant.
In the 1980s, the research and design bureau headed by him developed launchers for the Pioneer, Oka, Tochka-U, Iskander, and Topol missile systems.
In the early 1990s, Sobolev was the deputy head of the administration of the Volgograd region.
