Law enforcement officers detained the Deputy Rector of the National Academy of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky State Border Service of Ukraine on suspicion of abuse of office.
It’s about Colonel Peter Tkachuk. According to the investigation, the official, using the official position and involving the military and employees of the Academy, organized the construction of his own private home. For this purpose he probably used the resources and property of the educational institution.
During the investigation on May 6, searches were conducted at the place of residence of Tkachuk, on the territory of construction and in the official premises of the Academy. In the course of investigative actions, a considerable amount of property with inventory numbers of the educational institution was revealed: beds, air conditioners, heaters, souvenir products, as well as building materials – in particular tile and laminate purchased at the expense of the state budget.
On the basis of the evidence collected, law enforcement officers detained Tkachuk. On May 8, the court chose him a preventive measure – detention with the right to make a bail of UAH 450 thousand. The official is temporarily removed from the duties.
