The DBR declared the completion of the trial of Shabunin’s case

The State Bureau of Investigations stated that they had completed the investigation of criminal proceedings against “one of the military, who, according to the investigation, systematically evaded the military service with the assistance of the commander of the military unit.”

The name of the military in the DBR is not given, but from the circumstances of the case it follows that it is about the chairman of the Board of the Center for Combating Corruption Vitaliy Shabunin.

The bureau noted that after familiarization with the case file, the indictment will be transferred to court.

“We emphasize that the investigation was conducted objectively and in the shortest possible time, with compliance with all the requirements of the law … In the end, the court will put all the dots over the” i “and give a final assessment of the actions of the suspect,” the DBR said.

On August 13, the Center for Combating Corruption reported that law enforcement officers arrived in Kharkiv region at the scene of Vitaliy Shabunin’s service in order to give him an updated suspicion. The CPC stated that the DBR “does not change previously qualified crimes and does not add new articles, change the description of the circumstances of the crime.”

Last March, Vitaly Shabunin, Chairman of the Board of Corruption Center, argued that the State Bureau of Investigation registered two criminal proceedings against him for allegedly evasion of military service and forgery from NAPC documents.

He stressed that he did not evade military service, and also published a photo of a military ticket, stating that he made a military oath on February 25, 2022. Shabunin considers him “idiotic”.
