“Russian propaganda launched a campaign to discredit the Ukrainian negotiation group. Medinsky declared a “bilateral meeting” with Umerov before negotiations in Istanbul. This information is not true, ”the message reads.
The CPD noted that the meeting took place in the presence of Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who was a mediator, and the statements about the “closed agreements” reached at this meeting are “a manipulation aimed at undermining the Ukrainian negotiation group.”
“The exclusion with elements of conspiracyrology about the alleged personal connections of representatives of the delegation with the Russians will spread within Ukraine. To the Western audience is a messenger that Ukraine is “delaying peace talks”. While the Russian Federation systematically avoids the ceasefire agreements. The goal is to replace reality and to impose a narrative in which the aggressor makes itself for a “peacemaker”, – said in a message from the Ukrainian Center for Combating Misinformation.
The day before, the Russian Agency Interfax, citing the source, reported that Vladimir Medinsky and Rustem Umerov had a bilateral meeting on Monday before the delegations began.
