The court took the Chief Psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into custody with a bail of almost 50 million hryvnias

The Shevchenkiv District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure against Oleg Druz, the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is suspected of illegally enriching himself by more than 1 million dollars.

According to the court’s decision, the suspect will remain in custody during the investigation, with the possibility of release after posting a bail of 49 million hryvnias.

According to Sospilny journalists, Druz arrived at the court hearing in an ambulance and will be detained in a medical institution until his health improves.

On January 21, the Security Service of Ukraine detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces, who is the deputy head of the Central Military Police and decides on the fitness of the military to serve.

According to the case file, during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he acquired unsubstantiated assets worth more than a million US dollars.

As the investigation established, during the years 2022-2024, the suspect purchased:

  • a private house in Obukhiv district, Kyiv region;
  • two apartments in Kyiv;
  • an apartment in Odessa;
  • two plots of land in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region;
  • cars BMW X7 2024, 2022, BMW X5 2023, BMW X3 2022

The agency notes that SBU investigators also found 152,000 US dollars and 34,000 euros during the search.

The SBU message does not specify the name of the detainee, but it is known that Oleg Druz is the chief psychiatrist of the SBU.

In 2017, Oleg Druz was the head of the Psychiatry Clinic of the military hospital. Then he was caught taking a bribe. According to the investigation, he demanded 52,000 hryvnias to help evade the service. However, a few months later, the case was closed due to the “lack of elements of the crime”.
