Primorsky District Court of Odesa announced the verdict in the case of attempted murder of public activists Hennadiy Beibutyan and Demyan Hanul. The accused Mykola Mayorenko was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

This is reported by “Ukrinform” and “Suspilne Odesa”.

The prosecutor’s office asked for 15 years, but Mayorenko admitted his guilt and agreed to a simplified trial, refusing to appeal. Beibutyan, the victim, agreed to the punishment.

In October 2024, the SBU and the Odesa Prosecutor’s Office reported that law enforcement officers had prevented Beibutyan’s murder, which was ordered by Russian special services.

Mayorenko (from Lviv) had to find the killer for the reward promised by the Russian special services in $80 thousand. Law enforcement officers staged Beibutyan’s death and detained Mayorenko. The investigation also established that Mayorenko received another task from the Russian special services – to organize the murder of an activist Demyan Hanul. Demyan Hanul himself was shot in March 2025. 46-year-old deserter Serhiy Shalayev is suspected of his murder.
