The court released the mayor of Irpen under house arrest

On February 3, the Kyiv Court of Appeal partially satisfied the appeal of the defenders of the mayor of Irpen Alexander Markushin, deciding to transfer it to a 24-hour house arrest and release it from custody in the courtroom, reports Radio Liberty correspondent.

At the meeting, MP Olga Vasilevskaya-Smaglyuk, businessman Garik Korogodsky, as well as a number of servicemen and Irpen residents made statements that they were ready to take Markushin for bail.

Oleksandr Markushin in court called the case against him custom and accused the pursuit of former mayor Vladimir Karplyuk. He has not commented on these accusations.

In January, the Pechersk Court was taken into custody for two months, with a bail of 30 million hryvnias. He was also removed from work.

The case concerns the departure of Markushin abroad in August 2022. According to militiamen, he allegedly went to Italy not for the help of the military, but to see his two -year -old son. The mayor of the city stated that, as the only guardian of the child, he was entitled to travel abroad, but “formally formed” because he also brought drone for the military from a trip.
