The higher anti-corruption court refused to grant the request of the lawyers to change the preventive measure against the ex-deputy minister of energy Oleksandr Hale. He will remain in custody until October 8.

This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

“On September 19, 2024, VAKS supported the position of the Prosecutor of the SAP and refused to grant the request of the defense to change preventive measures against the former Deputy Minister of Energy and his confidant, who were exposed for receiving illegal benefits for granting permission to export mining equipment from the front-line area.” – the message says.

According to the case file, in exchange for a bribe of 500,000 US dollars, the official, using his powers, promised the heads of state-owned enterprises of the Lviv-Volyn coal basin to hand over mining equipment from the mines of the front-line region of Donetsk region without hindrance.

We are talking about the unique and scarce equipment of one of the state-owned coal companies, which is located within the hottest direction of the eastern front – Pokrovsky.

The Ministry of Energy, after reporting Hale’s exposure to bribery, submitted a motion to the Cabinet of Ministers for his dismissal, and the government approved the motion on August 12.
