The lawyer said that in his appeal appeal that this persecution had nothing to do with the law, since the law on counteraction to terrorism in 2006 did not recognize the organization of Hizb-Sut Tahrir in the Russian Federation. Kurbedinov also noted that Osmanov’s biography and lifestyle did not associate it with extremist activity.
Osmanov was arrested after Russian searches in February 2022. At that time, in several areas of Crimea, Russian security forces detained four people – Antar Osmanov, Marlena Mustafayev, Ernest Seismanov and Amethan Abdulvapov.
All detainees were accused of participating in the Islamic political party “Hizb Ut-Tahrir”, which is recognized in Russia terrorist, but operates without restriction at the level of national legislation of many countries of the world, including in Ukraine, under the jurisdiction of which is occupied by international law. .
On June 16, 2023, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Ansara Osmanov to 20 years in prison.
