The court found guilty the organizer and participants of an underground business for the production and sale of falsified coffee under the guise of products of well-known global brands. With the support of the prosecutor’s office, they were sentenced, and six seized cars with a total value of about UAH 4 million were handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Following the public indictment of the prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court sentenced the organizer and his accomplices, who organized the underground production and sale of counterfeit coffee under the guise of products of well-known global brands.
Prosecutors proved in court that the convicts “illegally used trademarks without any contracts, licenses or permits and organized the production of counterfeit products in warehouses in Kyiv region.” Coffee was sold through the Internet, retail outlets and local markets.
During the pre-trial investigation, equipment for the production and packaging of coffee, printing equipment, a batch of finished products (187 kilogram packs and 1,830 packages of 250 grams), cash, computer equipment, mobile phones, documentation with drafts, as well as vehicles used in criminal activities were seized. The damages caused to the right holder of the trademark in Ukraine exceeded 500,000 hryvnias, the accused compensated them voluntarily.
The court found the organizer and his accomplices guilty of criminal offenses and imposed a punishment “in the form of 5 years of imprisonment with a probationary period.”
At the initiative of the prosecutor’s office, six seized cars “with an estimated value of about 4 million hryvnias were transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
Procedural management was carried out by prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine under the operational support of the cyber police.
