The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv sent into custody without the right of bail of two officials, who are suspected of involvement in the manufacture and supply of more than 120 thousand dangerous mortar ammunition for the Armed Forces.
About it writes the Center for Combating Corruption.
“The investigating judge of the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv, Volodymyr Bugil, granted the request of the SBU investigator and applied to the exclusive of one of the military representative offices of the Ministry of Defense Mikhail Shkarenko and the head of the control group Yuri Yaresko a preventive measure in the form of detention without an alternative pledge.
According to the investigation, in 2024 the management of the Defense Plant in Dnipropetrovsk concluded a contract for more than UAH 11 billion with the State Defense Agency for the production of 120 mm mortar shots for the Armed Forces. However, the examination showed that explosive charges used a mixture of powders, which is not suitable up to 120 mm of mortar shots. This led to unstable charge. Also, capsules had defects, which caused the settlements.
Despite this, production was not stopped. According to law enforcement officers, more than 120,000 potentially hazardous mines were deliberately transferred to the front for profit, which had to be recalled, causing damage to defense capabilities.
The case also includes the CEO of the plant Leonid Shiman and his first deputy Alexei Kirichenko – the court is currently resolving the issue of choosing a measure of restraint.
Earlier, we wrote about a scandal around low -quality mines for the Armed Forces. In the mine strategy, they promised to replace them for free.
It was later revealed that the Ministry of Strategic Industry continues to supply low -quality and openly defective mines to the front.
