At the parliament meeting, four candidates were considered, which were selected as a result of competitive selection – Zakhar Tropin, Oksana Klimenko, Yulia Kirichenko, and Taras Tsymbalisty.
None of four candidates have gained the required number of votes – 226.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk instructed the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy to prepare materials for announcing a new competition for the selection of candidates for the post of judge of the COP.
In February 2025, an advisory group of experts (DGE) was handed over to the Verkhovna Rada and the President for the appointment of five judges of the CCU – two at the quota of Parliament, three at the presidential quota. Currently, the President has appointed two judges at his quota – Sergei Vodannikov and Yuri Barabash, instead, the parliament of judges has not yet appointed.
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine consists of eighteen judges. The President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the rides of judges of Ukraine appoint six judges of the Constitutional Court as a result of competitive selection. Currently, 13 judges work in the CCU.
The CCU decides on the conformity of the Constitution of Ukraine of the laws of Ukraine and in the cases provided for by the Constitution of other acts, provides an official interpretation of the Constitution of Ukraine.
