“It is quite possible that by the time Ukraine completely returns control of the South, new requirements for the volume of water reserves or technology will appear that will allow the project to be more environmentally friendly. This remains an open issue,” the expert said.
The Guardian also showed staff from the Kakhovka reservoir. Two years after the catastrophe, the plants grow so thickly that they have to break through them.
“In addition to the rapid growth of local vegetation, it has sprouted up to 40 billion seeds of trees, which can lead to the formation of the largest floodplain forest in the steppe zone of Ukraine,” – said the international coordinator of the organization “River without borders” Yevgeny Simonov.
