In the second game, Dayana trailed 1:5, but managed to win the serve twice in Ruse. The Ukrainian saved four match points and seemed to start a comeback, but lost two games at 5:5 and gave up the match.

Yastremska played her fourth head-to-head match against Ruse and suffered her fourth defeat.

Diana made her eighth appearance on the Melbourne courts. Her best result is the semi-final stage in 2024.

Yastremska will continue her performances at the Australian Open in doubles, where she will compete with Alicia Parks from the USA in the first round against the 16th seeded duo Guo Hanyu / Kristina Mladenovic.

In the second round, Ruse will play against the winner of the match between Yulia Starodubtseva (Ukraine, WTA 110) and Ayla Tomlyanovych (Australia, WTA 76). Yuliya and Ayla will start at the major on January 19.
