The coach with whom Ukraine failed two Olympics avoided dismissal

43-year-old Vasyl Fedoryshyn remains the head coach of the national wrestling team of Ukraine. This decision was made by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Matvyi Bidnyi, on the recommendation of the Wrestling Association of Ukraine. At the same time, the minister ignored the voting results of the members of the competition commission of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who listened to all the candidates for the position and cast their votes for the coach of the junior national team of Ukraine Viktor Bilokopyty.

Fedoryshyn, who once lost an Olympic silver medal due to doping, led the Ukrainian national team during two Olympic cycles, both of which ended in failure. Only two Ukrainians made it to Tokyo-2020, who could not win a single match at the Games. Our wrestlers did not obtain licenses for Paris-2024 at all, but received three passes after the representatives of the aggressor countries were suspended. But failure awaited the Ukrainians at the Olympics: two wrestlers again lost all matches, and another one lost a point for third place due to a favorable tournament grid.

It is important to note that in 2024, the national wrestling team of Ukraine under the leadership of Fedoryshyn, for the first time in history, did not win a single award at all three main events of the year – the Olympics, the World and European Championships. However, according to Minister Bidny, such a result is not a reason for changing the coaching staff.

At any cost. Maneuvers around the coach of the national wrestling team continue
