The Nürburgring in Germany is one of the most difficult and dangerous race tracks in the world. Car manufacturers have traditionally used the track as the toughest test for their models, and now a new champion has appeared in the electric car record book – Yangwang U9 Xtreme of the Chinese company BYD.

The hypercar has passed the northern loop of the Nürburgring 20.8 km long 6 minutes 59.157 secondssetting a record as the fastest production electric car on the track. He didn’t just beat the previous record – bettered his own best time on five seconds and became the first electric car of its class to overcome seven-minute barrier. A German endurance racer was behind the wheel Moritz Cranswho noted that the record demonstrates a high level of car development and chassis tuning.

U9 Xtreme has also repeatedly set other records. A month ago, he accelerated to 496 km/h, breaking the record Bugatti. The hypercar is built on a platform 1,200 V e4 BYD with four electric motors – one for each wheel, which allows the computer to adjust the power simultaneously. Motors rotate at speed 30,000 rpmand the total power is 3,000 hp

By the way, a record U9 Xtreme received special modifications. The manufacturer installed a new cooling system, carbon-ceramic brakes and tires e·GTR2 PRO from GitiSport.
