The prosecutors sent to the court a statement of claim against the last member of the criminal group involved in the kidnapping and murder of a resident of Latvia. The man is accused of premeditated murder by conspiracy with an order to conceal another criminal offense, illegal kidnapping of a person, as well as the acquisition and storage of ammunition, explosive devices and explosive substances without the permission provided for by law (Parts 3, 9, 12, Part 2 of Article 115, Part 146, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the investigation, the woman was the owner of a residential complex worth 3.7 million euros on the seashore in the resort town of Saulkrasti in the Republic of Latvia, in which more than 30 apartments, parking lots and other infrastructure facilities were rented out.

In the fall of 2019, the victim disappeared, and she was last seen with a “client” – a citizen of Ukraine, who was part of an organized criminal group and acted on the instructions of the convicted. He allegedly came to inspect the property.

After the disappearance of the woman, it was established that the organizers of the criminal group were two citizens of the Russian Federation, a father and a son, who lived in Latvia as refugees. They decided to take possession of the woman’s property and invited three familiar citizens of Ukraine who had specially come to Latvia for this purpose.

Under the guise of clients, criminals lured a woman out of an apartment complex, dragged her into a car and drove her outside the city, where they tried to force her to rewrite the estate for their use by torture and threats, and when she refused, they killed her.

To solve the crime, the law enforcement officers created an international investigative and operational team. The evidence base collected by Ukrainian law enforcement officers helped convict the Russians in June of this year. Father and son were sentenced to 20 years in prison, and after serving their sentences they will be deported to the Russian Federation.

To date, the pre-trial investigation of all members of the criminal group – citizens of Ukraine – has been completed. In connection with the death of one of the suspects, the proceedings were closed, and another accomplice was convicted. Currently, the last perpetrator of the crime is in custody.

Recently, the law enforcement officers completed the investigation and submitted an indictment to the court against a serviceman from the Russian Kherson detachment of the private military company Redut. He is accused of violating the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.

We will also remind you that the Security Service of Ukraine detained the “polite expert” Serhiy Belashko in the Kyiv region, who was actively promoting Kremlin narratives on Viktor Medvedchuk’s TV channels.
