The case about the defense of Kharkiv Region: General Galushkin was detained again on his way out of the pre-trial detention center

General Yurii Galushkin, who is a suspect in the case of improper defense of the Kharkiv region and for whom a bail of UAH 5 million was made, was detained on his way out of the pre-trial detention center. The SBI has already announced that they “discovered new facts in the case of a border breach in Kharkiv Oblast,” he reports UNN.

The video of General Galushkin’s re-arrest was released by his lawyer Mykhailo Velichko.

According to the defender, Galushkin was detained and taken to the DBR.

As reported by the SBI, within the framework of the investigation of the criminal proceedings regarding the negligence of the commanders during the defense of part of the territory of the Lipetsk rural territorial community of the Kharkiv district, it was found that the ex-commander of the OTU “Kharkiv” did not correctly assess the potential of the enemy and the situation in the area of ​​responsibility and by his actions also contributed arbitrary abandonment of the battlefield by fighters 125 of the TrO Ordinance.

“It was established that the military commander ignored the available intelligence, assessed the Russian offensive in this area as “unlikely”, and accordingly gave orders and orders to subordinates that did not correspond to the real situation, which ultimately led to tragic events on the front line.

“Due to miscalculations in the command and the arbitrary departure of soldiers and certain units of the 125th Infantry Regiment, the strategic initiative was lost, and the enemy managed to penetrate into the brigade’s defense line at a distance of up to 10 km, which allowed them to shell Kharkiv again with artillery,” the report says.

Also, as a result of such actions, almost a hundred of our servicemen were wounded, killed or went missing on the first day of the enemy offensive, the Bureau added.

The DBR confirmed that the former commander was detained.

He will be charged with suspicion under Art. 5th century 27, Art. 429 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assistance in voluntarily leaving the battlefield or refusal to act with a weapon).

On January 20, 2024, the ex-commander was informed of the suspicion of a military official’s negligent attitude to service, committed under martial law conditions, which caused grave consequences (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). A preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of detention with the alternative of posting a bail of 5 million hryvnias.

On January 20, 2024, employees of the SBU in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine with the assistance of the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Armed Forces detained former commanders: two generals and a colonel, due to whose negligence the enemy was able to seize part of the territory of Kharkiv Oblast in May 2024.

The former commanders of the operational-tactical group “Kharkiv”, the 125th separate territorial defense brigade and the 415th separate rifle battalion of the 23rd separate mechanized brigade, with their negligent attitude to military service, allowed the troops of the Russian Federation to capture part of the territory of the Lipetsk rural territorial community of the Kharkiv district. Also, the actions of the commanders led to the loss of personnel and weapons, disrupted measures for the defense of the state border in their area of ​​responsibility.
