Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on meetingsand July 7 made changes to Rules for transportation of pets by road.
Cabinet decision amended Rules for the provision of passenger road transport and the rules of transportation of animals for a clear regulation, The government representative in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk reported.
In particular, the requirements for the transportation of middle and large dogs, as well as guide dogs were set. The requirement for the mandatory availability of a veterinary passport of the animal for its transportation is provided.
The rights and responsibilities of transportation participants (car carriers, drivers, passengers) in the carriage of pets in the vehicle cabin are clearly regulated.
Transportation of small animals:
Small pets, cats and dogs weighing up to 10 kg, as well as indoor ornamental birds can be transported in special containers, cells, or transfer with a waterproof bottom.
Transportation of large dogs:
Dogs weighing more than 45 kg should only be transported in specially equipped transport.
Guide dogs:
The guide dogs who accompany people with disabilities should be on a short leash and in a muzzle, as well as to be near the passenger they are accompanied.
Veterinary Passport:
An obligatory requirement for the transportation of animals is the availability of a veterinary passport.
Hygienic norms:
Passengers are obliged to observe the sanitary and hygienic standards and not to leave the animal unattended during the trip.
Vehicles:
Automobile carriers have the right to identify vehicles that will be used for transportation of animals, taking into account the design features of transport.
