Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer arrived on an official visit to Ukraine. He will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, it is planned to sign an agreement on deepening military aid to Ukraine.

This is reported by The Guardian.

The British prime minister is expected to discuss what security guarantees London can offer to Kyiv, including the possibility of British troops participating in post-war peacekeeping forces.

“Putin’s ambitions to separate Ukraine from its closest partners suffered a huge strategic defeat. Instead, we are closer than ever and this partnership will take our friendship to the next level,” said Starmer.

Following the visit, Ukraine and Great Britain will sign a partnership agreement to deepen existing defense relations with the offer of further military assistance to Kyiv. The agreements come amid fears that the US may begin to wind down its support for Kyiv.

Funding will be directed to enterprises that support the “green” economy, as well as marginalized groups of the population, including women and veterans.

This is a continuation of the £12.8bn of support that the UK has already provided to Ukraine, including £7.8bn of military aid and ongoing support for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The day before, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are discussing the possibility of sending their countries’ military personnel to Ukraine as a peacekeeping contingent. Paris and London are considering such a scenario after a potential agreement between Kyiv and Moscow on the cessation of hostilities.

We will remind you that European politicians are skeptical about the possibility of sending a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine if the US military is not involved.

And recently, during a visit to Poland, French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Donald Tusk discussed the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities.

German chancellor candidate and leader of the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz said that Germany can consider participating in peacekeeping forces in Ukraine only if a consensus is reached with Russia.
