The scandal erupted after the US Department of Justice released a trove of documents in the Epstein case last week.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he intended to ensure the release of all material on which the decision to appoint Mendelsohn was based, except for documents that could harm national security, international relations or an ongoing police investigation.
Starmer also said Mendelsohn repeatedly lied to his team about his relationship with Epstein before he was appointed to the position.
It should be noted that Mendelssohn announced his resignation from the British House of Lords after it became known about a series of scandalous e-mails that linked him with the sex offender Epstein.
Documents released by the US Department of Justice also show that Epstein transferred $75,000 to bank accounts believed to be the beneficiary of Mendelsohn, who was a Labor MP at the time.
In September 2009, Epstein transferred £10,000 to Mendelsohn’s partner, now her husband, to finance an osteopathy course and other expenses.
British police have launched an investigation into Mendelsohn.
