– The emotions are just wonderful. Sometimes you need to stop and return to reality, because it is my childhood dream. I stop myself and think “wow, I really could, I really won – and this is a reality.”

– Which match at this championship was the hardest for you and why?
– I do not know, every match was difficult for me. There were no light duels at all, because these are very responsible competitions. I very responsibly came to each duel with each athlete, despite the level, to the status. For me they were all equal. The most important thing for me was to show my best fencing in every duel.
– What helped keep the cold mind in the most responsible seconds of the last three duels when he solved one decisive injection?
– In general, even before the Olympic Games 2024, about a year before them, I was quite fruitful to mental preparation for myself for competitions. I communicated with people, with sports coaching, and discovered meditation. Therefore, a year before the Olympic Games, I began to practice it, started breathing in competitions – that is, I just focus my attention on breathing, I count it. And, in fact, in these competitions I did it all day. That is, from the morning, I drove away all thoughts, concentrated my attention only on breathing. And also in duels, when such very emotionally critical situations became, everything I did was just drove any thoughts from myself and focused on breathing. For my mind to be free and to go to the track without any expectations and intentions-and this makes it possible to perceive the battle of what it is.

– Did you believe that gold is possible this year?
– Of course, she believed. I have been training for 20 years, I go to this dream for 20 years, so my faith since childhood is very great. I have been preparing all my life for this moment.
– The experience of Natalia Conrad, who gained the first gold of the World Championship for Ukraine 22 years ago, played an important role in achieving this success?
– Of course, the experience of Natalia Conrad is very important, it passes it to all of us. First of all, I will note her powerful vision of fencing. The way she can not just be a successful athlete, but also incredibly qualified trainer. I would like to emphasize that we just have a magical coaching staff. We also have Bogdan Nikishin, who has recently held a sword in his hands. He just came and gathered this team. We show crazy results with him – and every year we are getting better and better. I am sure that this is a huge merit of our coaching staff.

– Was the desire of the organizers unexpected to take a common photo with the winners of the first competitive day, among which the Russian was? And how much does the presence of Russian athletes influence you?
-You know, I was so concentrated on my duels when I was sitting in a callro-corner that I didn’t know what was happening there in the finale at the guys who fencing there-I did not pay attention to it. And then, when we stood on the podium and they began to call the guys to take a common photo, someone from our team shouted, type, Vlad. And at this moment I start looking around and understand that we are standing now and they want to take a shared photo. And, of course, the position of Ukrainians, my position, the position of the whole team is very transparent. This cannot be allowed in any way. And as soon as I realized – of course, I took the appropriate actions.
This is my third World Cup, in the second I did not participate because we boycotted him through the Russians. They cause great harm to both our country and athletes, all Ukrainians. And I am sorry that the position of the world is not stable and is not clear that such shameful decisions on the admission of Russians are allowed. Therefore, it is affected by us emotionally, but at the same time motivates it to act in order to raise the flag of Ukraine and remind the world that the war continues and we are running our struggle.
– What are your subsequent plans?
– Further plans are to complete these competitions successfully. We still have a competition in the team standings. We have a wonderful team, we have wonderful girls, so I believe we can show the best result. After that – the long -awaited rest, after which – further into the battle.
