The Ministry of Defense continues to implement gender equality policy and improve health care for servicemen. Additional social guarantees for servicemen:
- Separate living quarters – women are placed in specially designated premises or tents (up to 3 people).
- The ban on dangerous work – servicemen are not involved in particularly dangerous and underground work (except for sanitary).
- Exercise restriction – it is allowed to lift no more than 10 kg twice per hour or 7 kg permanently.
- The right to release-pregnancy is the basis for dismissal from military service at will at any time.
- Leave-126 days in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, as well as additional leave for baby care.
Units are obliged to ensure the equality of women and men in their employment, and all servicemen should not allow discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual harassment or violence. In cases of violations, an investigation is conducted with the involvement of representatives of both sexes and psychologists. Administrative and criminal liability is provided for violation of the rights of servicemen, assured the Ministry of Defense.
- In February, the Ministry of Boron stated that since the opening of the recruitment centers of the Ukrainian army, 42 366 people, including 1,064 – last week, approached them. The proportion of women in the forces of defense who joined the troops has increased to 21%.
- On January 9, the Verkhovna Rada voted in general for bill # 12076 on basic military training. According to him, the passage of basic military training for women will only be voluntary.
