Argentine tennis player Francisco Cherundolo (ATP 21) reached the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open Championship 2026.

In the third round, the Argentine defeated the “neutral” in three sets Andrei Rublev (ATP 15) in 2 hours and 9 minutes.

Cherundolo played against Rublev for the fifth time and won his fourth victory.

In Melbourne, Francisco, in addition to Andrii, also knocked out Zhang Zhizhen and Damir Dzhumkhur. His next opponent will be either Oleksandr Zverev (Germany, ATP 3) or Cameron Norrie (Great Britain).

Cherundolo reached the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time in his career. He had previously reached this stage at Roland Garros twice (in 2023 and 2024) and lost twice.
