The abbot of the UOC MP monastery will be tried for beating a man to death

The abbot of the UOC MP monastery in Starokostyantynov, Khmelnytskyi region, who is accused of beating his husband to death, will appear before the court. Source: Police and Prosecutor’s Office of Khmelnytskyi Details: Investigators completed the investigation and sent to court criminal proceedings against the 46-year-old priest of the men’s monastery, who is accused of causing serious injuries that caused the victim’s death. The event took place in August 2025 on the territory of the monastery in the city of Starokostiantyniv. Being drunk, the priest quarreled with a 51-year-old man. Later, the verbal conflict between them turned into a fight, during which the attacker inflicted numerous punches and kicks on the victim. The man died from his injuries at the scene. On this fact, a criminal proceeding was opened under Part 2 of Art. 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the investigation has been completed and the indictment has been sent to the court for consideration.
