The century-old agreement between Ukraine and Great Britain includes a secret part that should strengthen Ukraine’s stability and promote its development. This agreement introduced a fundamentally new format of bilateral relations.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in an evening address on Thursday, January 16.
“The closest relations are now between Ukraine and Great Britain, and some things that we included in the century-old agreement can definitely be done with other countries as well,” the head of state said.
According to him, Great Britain plans to provide military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 6.6 billion dollars in 2025, and in the future will allocate at least 3 billion dollars every year. In addition, the agreement provides for cooperation in the economic, technological and educational spheres.

“There is also a closed, secret part of the agreement. All that really gives us stability and opportunities to develop,” the president added.
Zelensky with Starmer held a meeting with representatives of drone manufacturing companies. According to the president, this sector will receive additional investments, and 2025 will become a record year for the number of Ukrainian drones.
On January 16, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit for the first time since taking office in July 2024.
On the same day, the British Prime Minister and Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a historic agreement on a 100-year partnership between Ukraine and Britain. It covers such areas as defense, science, energy and trade.
Starmer also announced that Britain will hand over to Ukraine the new Gravehawk mobile air defense system, which was developed specifically for the needs of the Defense Forces.
