Over the past four years, Telegram has transformed from a messenger for exchanging messages to one of the key media and commercial platforms in Ukraine. The study showed that Ukrainians spend money more and more actively through this platform.

Despite regular discussions and calls for possible blocking of Telegram, its audience in Ukraine increased by 676% during this period — 7.7 times. This indicates the rapid growth of the influence of the platform on the information space and financial habits of users.
Over the past four years, Pavlo Durov’s platform has turned from a simple messenger into the country’s main media platform. If in 2021 the total number of subscriptions to Ukrainian channels was 64 million, then in 2025 this figure reached 433.2 million. Currently, there are 127,032 Telegram channels in Ukraine.
The most popular channels remain Ukraine NOW, Trukha Ukraina, Ukraina Segodnya and Times of Ukraine, and among political figures, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi leads with more than 16.2 billion views or 68.2% in this segment. This is twice as much as all other persons in the political top 15 combined.
At the same time, Ukrainians are increasingly spending money on Telegram. In particular, the volume of payments increased more than four times – from about 7 million UAH in June 2024 to more than 30 million UAH in October 2025.
Although overall spending on YouTube remains higher, it is Telegram that shows the fastest and most noticeable growth dynamics,” the study notes.
The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has had his judicial supervision revoked.
Previously, Durov, who has the citizenship of the UAE, was prohibited from leaving France without the permission of law enforcement agencies. Although he received permits to travel to Dubai, the Paris prosecutor’s office at the same time rejected his requests to travel to the United States and Norway.
