The government appointed Taras Chmut, head of the “Return to Life” fund, as a representative of the Ministry of Defense in the Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.

“We continue to strengthen the team with effective leaders. Today, at my request, the government appointed Taras Chmut as the representative of the Ministry of Defense in the Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency,” he wrote in a telegram.

Fedorov said that he discussed with Taras Chmut the key tasks that the Ministry of Defense plans to implement with the support of the AOZ and the Supervisory Board. In particular, according to him, it is about purchasing what “shows effectiveness on the battlefield”, quality control and timely delivery, building a flexible and dynamic procurement system “capable of responding to the innovation cycle”.

The Minister of Defense reminded that the Supervisory Board is responsible for the strategic management of the agency, the achievement of tasks set by the government, compliance with legislation and transparency of work, and the appointment of Taras Chmut “will significantly strengthen the Supervisory Board of AOZ and help achieve goals in the war.”

The volunteer has not yet commented on his return to the Supervisory Board of AOZ.

From October 2024 to January 2025, Taras Chmut was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency. In January 2025, he and another representative of the state Yuriy Dzhigar were recalled by the then Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov.

Then Minister Umerov refused to renew the contract with the director of the AOZ Maryna Bezrukova and appointed her in her place Arsen Zhumadilov. Chmut and Dzhigyr then voted in the Supervisory Board to extend the contract with Bezrukova.
