Taiwan’s defense ministry said it detected “multiple waves of shelling” starting at 6:50 a.m. local time on Saturday, September 28, by China’s missile forces and army in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai and Xinjiang provinces and regions. They are located at least 2000 km from the island.
Taiwan’s armed forces are constantly monitoring relevant developments, and the air defense force maintains a high level of vigilance and has increased its combat readiness,
China said on Wednesday it had successfully launched a rare intercontinental ballistic missile toward the Pacific Ocean.
The next day, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry sounded the alarm over a new surge in Chinese military activity around the island and live-fire drills, accusing Beijing of using a policy of instability. The Chinese military responded by saying that their activities around the island were “legitimate” and that the exercises would continue.
China’s Defense Ministry did not return calls for comment after hours.
Democratically-ruled Taiwan, which China claims as its territory, closely monitors Chinese military exercises, given Beijing’s regular activity around the island, but only occasionally releases details of what is happening inside the PRC.
We will remind
On September 18, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced the passage of an aircraft carrier strike group of the Chinese Navy led by the “Liaoning” near the island. Taiwan’s armed forces were monitoring the situation and responding accordingly.
