The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, had a conversation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Armed Forces, General Charles Brown, he reported on January 16.

In particular, he expressed his condolences in connection with the large-scale fires in California.

“During the conversation, he informed his American colleague about the situation on the front line, which is characterized by heavy fighting on most fronts. “Thanks to the courage and bravery of the Ukrainian military, the overwhelming forces of the enemy did not manage to achieve a strategic goal on any of the areas of the front,” Syrskyi said.

He added that he thanked Brown for the “positive dynamics” in the provision of logistical assistance, especially air defense equipment, heavy equipment, artillery and aviation ammunition.

“The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces assured that the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers will continue to be effectively supported by the US,” added Syrskyi.

The press service of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces reported on Brown’s conversation with Sirsky the day before. According to the report, the parties discussed the latest developments on the front line, security assistance and military modernization reforms.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as of the morning of January 16, 124 combat clashes took place on the front the day before.

The Russian army advanced in Chasovoy Yar, the DeepState project reported on the night of January 15. The front line there was relatively stable until the aggressor captured a refractory plant in the north of the city a few days ago.

According to military analysts, it was one of the most convenient points of defense in the city – after its capture, the situation in Chasovoy Yar could quickly deteriorate.
