Details: They also “subjectively discussed” the possibility of supplying Gripen aircraft and transferring Meteor missiles, which are key tools for countering aircraft carrying guided aerial bombs.
It is noted that Ukraine and Sweden are also discussing the possibility of additional contributions to the PURL initiative (which ensures the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine at the expense of other allies), in particular for the purchase of means to counter Russian ballistic missiles.
In addition, there was talk of a partnership in defense innovation to attract grant funds for defense companies and test innovative solutions directly on the front.
“At the same time, the parties are working on accelerating the launch of joint production of Ukrainian security solutions on the territory of Sweden,” the communique added.
What preceded: The government of Ukraine expects the factory of the Gripen manufacturer to appear in Ukraine in 2033, and the planes themselves – “much earlier.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the first planes could arrive as early as 2026.
