SVONTEK: I don’t think WADA will file an appeal, I’ve already missed three tournaments

The second racket of the world Iga Svyontek before the start of the United Cup 2025 for the Polish national team, she held a press conference at which she commented on her doping scandal, speaking about people’s reaction to this situation:

“I think the reaction was more positive than I expected. In my opinion, most people reacted with understanding, and those who read the documents and know how the system works, realize that I am not to blame and could not influence what is happening.

I rarely go online. I try to just live my life and concentrate on other things, on preparing for the season and on tennis. This is the best thing to do in such a situation.

But in general, the reaction in Poland – at least from what I read – was quite good. I really appreciate it. After the information about my case became public, I was afraid that most people would turn their backs on me. But I felt supported, and that’s great. Of course, there will be negative comments, it is inevitable. I have to accept it. To be honest, I don’t really care.

Will WADA appeal the ITIA decision. I don’t think there is any reason for this, because I have already missed three tournaments. I was suspended from the competition, because of which I fell to the second step of the rating. I also know how the procedure went, and I provided all possible evidence. To be honest, I did everything necessary. Therefore, we believe that there is no point in the appeal.

But in general, the whole process was abstract at times, and it is difficult to understand it, if you do not look at everything from the point of view of laws. But, to be honest, the law and wording are in the first place here.

So I don’t expect an appeal, but I can’t influence what happens either. But from what I went through and the way I was treated from the beginning, everything seemed fair to me. I managed to find the reason quite quickly. Therefore, the case was quickly closed. So I think the process was fair and I believe the ITIAs treat any player they deal with that way.”
