January 18 Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils (husband and wife) reached the round of 16 of the 2025 Australian Open in the women’s and men’s categories respectively.
First, Gael beat Taylor Fritz with a score of 3:6, 7:5, 7:6, 6:4. And then Elina coped with Jasmin Paolini – 2:6, 6:4, 6:0.
Both meetings were held at Margaret Court Arena. Monfils played the last, second run of the day session, and Elina played the first run of the evening session.
Both Fritz and Paolini are ranked fourth in the ATP and WTA rankings, respectively.
Monfils will face Ben Shelton in the 4th round of the Aus Open, while Elina will face Veronika Kudermetova.
