Today, Sunday, December 21, 2025, cloudy weather with fog prevails in Ukraine due to the influence of anticyclone Frieda. The beginning of the new week, December 22, will maintain this trend: no significant precipitation is expected, however, due to high humidity, local thunderstorms are possible, but then it will get colder.
Natalka Didenko’s synoptic models and forecasts indicate that the festive period will be marked by the return of real winter. As early as December 24, a gradual decrease in temperature will begin, which will be most noticeable at Christmas.
On Wednesday, December 24, the temperature will start to drop below zero in most of the Left Bank, as well as in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions. A little wet snow is possible in the western regions, but dry weather will prevail throughout the rest of the territory. On Christmas itself, December 25, the cold will intensify — night frosts can reach minus seven or even twelve degrees, especially in the northern and eastern regions. During the day, thermometers will also stay below zero, except for the extreme south and Transcarpathia.
During the weekend of December 20-21, an anticyclone will persist in Ukraine, which will determine the weather conditions. According to forecasts, the weather will be cloudy and foggy, without precipitation. Temperatures in the capital will range from 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
