Verbatim from the statement from Starmer’s office: “In the afternoon (December 21 – ed.), the Prime Minister had a conversation with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. The two leaders began by discussing the war in Ukraine. The Prime Minister informed about the work of the Coalition of Those Willing to Support a Peace Agreement and Ensuring a Fair and Long-Term Cessation of Hostilities.”

In addition, Starmer announced the appointment of a new British ambassador to the United States, expressing hope that this will contribute to further deepening of relations between the two countries.
What happened before:
- On December 21, the Secretary of the National Security Council Rustem Umyerov announced that the next meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with the American side in the USA will take place on Sunday.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that he is waiting for Umerov’s report on negotiations with the American side.
- The Kremlin also said that they were waiting for the report of the special envoy of the head of the Russian Federation, Kirill Dmitriev, on the results of the negotiations between the representatives of the USA, European countries and Ukraine, but they assumed in advance that “most of the proposals” would not suit Moscow.
- In the evening of December 21 Umyerov reported that the Ukrainian delegation held a number of productive and constructive meetings with US representatives and European partners for 3 days in Florida, in particular, the parties discussed 4 key documents on peace, security guarantees and development plan of Ukraine.
