Thanks to the evidence base of the Security Service of Ukraine, an agent of the FSB of the Russian Federation, who spied on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Bakhmut, Donetsk region, was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

As reported by Ukrinform, the SBU press center reported this.

SBU employees detained a Russian agent in March 2023. He turned out to be a 29-year-old former contract worker of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who on the first day of the full-scale war ran away from his place of service and hid in the front-line territory of the Donetsk region.

Later, an FSB staff member contacted him remotely and offered to cooperate for money. The enemy was most interested in the coordinates of the firing positions of the barrel and jet artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which kept under fire control the assault groups of the Russian invaders attacking Bakhmut.

The “dark” agent involved an acquaintance of his in gathering information about temporary bases and routes of movement of the Defense Forces. He also gathered information about the consequences of enemy shelling on the territory of the district.

To communicate with the Russian special service, the person involved used an anonymous chat in a popular messenger.
