“We are working very, very hard for peace in Ukraine. Right now, peace in Ukraine depends on one single person – as you know very well, President Putin. So, obviously, at a certain point, negotiations will have to be held with President Putin as well,” Pinho said.
She emphasized that in the meantime “a lot of work is being done” in this direction.
“Unfortunately, we do not see any signs that President Putin intends to participate in such negotiations. So we are not there yet. But at a certain point, we really hope that some such negotiations will take place, which will eventually lead to peace in Ukraine,” emphasized the chief spokeswoman of the European Commission.
Paula Pinho added that the EU is also concerned because “it is also about our security, since Ukraine exists and we consider it a part of our Europe.”
As European Pravda reported, on January 11, US President Donald Trump said that ready to make a commitment about the participation of the United States in the future defense of Ukraine, but, according to him, only because he is sure: Russia will not try to invade again.
