According to the agency, the missile flew about 1,100 kilometers and fell into the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said a medium-range missile was launched from an area near the North Korean capital Pyongyang and condemned the launch as a provocation that poses a serious threat to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
Japan’s defense ministry said the missile fell outside the country’s exclusive economic zone and that there were no reports of damage to ships or aircraft.

At a news conference, Blinken condemned North Korea’s latest launch, which violates UN Security Council resolutions targeting North Korea. He also reiterated concerns about the growing rapprochement between North Korea and Russia in Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
Blinken described military cooperation between Russia and North Korea as a “two-way street”, saying that Russia provides military equipment and training to North Korea and “intends to share space and satellite technology”.
Last October, North Korea conducted its longest ever ballistic missile test, South Korean authorities said. The Japanese government reported that the missile reached an altitude of 7,000 kilometers and had a flight range of 1,000 kilometers. In a statement, the CSTC said that the test launch “set a record for the power of a strategic missile.” The launch of the rocket was condemned by the authorities of South Korea, Japan and the USA.
