During the launch, the satellite was derived in orbit from the space forces station at Cape Canaveral. The Ministry of Defense noted that it is currently planned to confirm its work through the Land Station.
This launch has become part of South Korea’s strategic plan, which plans to deploy five spy satellites by the end of the year to improve North Korea monitoring and reduce dependence on US satellite images.
The first satellite launched in December 2023, and last year two more satellites with SAR radar sensors were launched. After launching the fifth satellite, South Korea will be able to receive North Korea every two hours.
Recall:
- In December 2023, South Korea launched a spider satellite with the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in response to the launch of a similar DPRK satellite.
- On November 22, 2023, North Korea announced the successful launch of a ballistic missile with a spy satellite on board.
