Hispanic Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 3) ended his performance at the Finals tournament, losing his chances of getting out of the group of John Newcombe. In the last match of the group stage, the Spaniard conceded Oleksandr Zverev (ATP 2).
After the match, Zverev commented on his rivalry with Alcaraz: “He’s beaten me too often this year in key matches, so I’m glad I finally prevailed. We have developed a great rivalry, which is accompanied by good friendship. It’s always nice to play with Carlos, except for the times when he beats me, it’s not a great feeling. But he’s an amazing guy.”
The German also noted the high level of play: “The game was incredible, especially in the first set. The tiebreak turned out to be just crazy. At some points, I thought he turned into Spider-Man again,” Zverev shared in an interview on the court.
