Since the beginning of the armed aggression against Ukraine in 2014, Russia has violated more than 400 international treaties, to which Ukraine and the Russian Federation are parties, and has neglected 22 fundamental international documents since 2022. The head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, stated this during the international forum “Diplomacy Today: Ukraine’s Role in Global Politics.”

The event is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. In total, 700 people attended the forum. Among them are Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi, Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidny, Deputy Heads of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva and Olena Kovalska, representatives of diplomatic missions, teachers and students. They discussed current problems and challenges for diplomacy.

Andriy Yermak emphasized that armed Russian aggression against Ukraine is the most serious violation of international law since the Second World War. This has led to food, energy and environmental crises, which are felt in different countries of the world. Therefore, one of the goals of Ukrainian diplomacy now is the resuscitation of the system of international law.

He also noted that thanks to diplomatic efforts, it was possible to unite all the peoples of Europe and a large part of the world around Ukraine from the first hours of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

“We achieved the fact that the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine” becomes a reality thanks to our active diplomatic presence at all key international platforms: from the UN and G7 to EU and NATO summits. Ukraine participated in the meeting of the League of Arab States, the G20 summit. And these are not only symbolic steps – they are a clear signal that the world is ready to hear Ukraine and act together with us,” said the head of the President’s Office.

In addition, Andrii Yermak noted that after the start of full-scale Russian aggression, the Ukrainian team moved away from classical methods of diplomacy, began to work informally, on personal contacts, and not only with state leaders and politicians, but also with celebrities.

The head of the Office of the Head of State called the Peace Formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the 2022 G20 summit in Indonesia an important achievement of Ukraine.

“Over these two years, we have become stronger on our irreversible path to NATO. Ukraine has already proven its role as a key guarantor of security in Europe. We not only declare, but also implement Alliance standards in our Armed Forces,” concluded Andriy Yermak.

The head of the President’s Office called on partners to strengthen support for Ukraine and promote the implementation of the Victory Plan and the Peace Formula to establish a comprehensive, just and durable peace for Ukraine, Europe and the whole world.
