The IVSIA has prepared a resolution that would make a number of changes to the territorial division of Poland. The document takes into account the requests of local authorities, including changes in the boundaries of the Gmin and cities, granting the status of the city to several settlements and changing the names of the Gmin. The most important provision of the resolution is to grant the status of a city. This applies to six settlements.
From January 1, 2026, cities will become:
Stanislav, Malkin Gurnya and Old Testament in the Mazowietsky Voivodeship, Podlaska in the Lublin Voivodeship,
And also Branice in the Opole Voivodeship and was in the Silesian Voivodeship.
What is it for
The granting of the city status is accepted after public consultations. This change in image often increases investment attractiveness and allows applications for urban development.
Another significant change is the regulation of local governments. This applies to the rich and north of Zdryui, Zembozhitzeta Stash, Nepombemic and Clay in the Malopolsky Voivodeship, the Zakshev Communist and Radom in the Mazovsky Voivodeship, as well as the Razonkiv and Bakers of Shlyoni in the Silesian Voivodeship.
The boundaries of some Polish cities will also change, and the New City of Lubavian will change its name to Bratyan.
All changes will come into force on January 1, 2026.
We will remind, almost 80% of active individual enterprises registered by foreigners in Poland from January to the end of April 2025 are managed by citizens of Ukraine, and 7% of FOPs are managed by persons with citizenship of Belarus – according to the Polish Economic Institute (Pie).
