He stressed that the key task is to limit Russia’s ability to produce terror. According to Sibiga, the diplomatic system mobilizes all the efforts on the eve of important measures. In particular, the EU and NATO Summit, which will take place next week.
“The next month should be a month of pressure on Russia. Sanction pressure. Adoption of new sanctions – at the EU level and at the level of national governments. If Putin and his associates boldly reject peaceful efforts, reject the truce, reject everything – they must suffer destructive economic blows. The minister said that it was first and foremost about reducing the ceiling of the price of oil, increasing secondary sanctions, closing the ways of bypassing restrictions, as well as accessing the Russian Federation to weapons components.
“We expect determination from our partners. Especially from the United States of America. All these actions must be coordinated. We have the EU and its Member States, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. These are the largest economies in the world and country, whose sanctions are most preschool and painful for Russia. They can be destructive to Russia’s economy, ”the Foreign Minister emphasized.
He urged to strengthen the control over the fulfillment of the restrictions already entered, as well as to impose secondary sanctions.
“They should be directed to the banking system, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, large regional banks, frozen assets. Fair decisions should be made, which will now allow them to fully use them. We are talking about the confiscation and use of assets for the needs of weapons restoration and purchase for Ukraine, ”Sibiga said.
The Foreign Minister of the Foreign Ministry emphasized the need to impose sanctions against anyone who helps the aggressor country bypassing restrictions. Sibiga assured that the relevant work is already underway.
