Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga, who met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken the day before, declared “cautiously optimistic” after discussing the possibility of long-range strikes against Russia.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, writes Reuters.

Ukraine has long been calling on its allies to allow long-range strikes against the Russian Federation with Western weapons. Allies, including the United States, do not allow the provided weapons to be used for strikes deep into the Russian Federation due to fears of further escalation.

“We discussed the issue of long-range strikes and Euro-Atlantic integration. And here we are also cautiously optimistic,” said Sibiga, commenting on the meeting with Blinken.

He also added that his talks in Brussels also touched on military aid.

“We have a clear picture – clear time frames, clear volumes – of what will be provided to Ukraine by the end of the year. This helps us strategically plan our actions on the battlefield,” the minister said.

According to him, the aid will include weapons and funds for concluding agreements on the production of weapons.

The media previously reported that, according to the assessment of US intelligence and the Pentagon, allowing Ukraine to launch long-range strikes on the territory of Russia would bring Kyiv more disadvantages than benefits, so they recommended not to change the relevant policy.

Earlier we wrote that the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Great Britain, Andriy Sybiga and David Lammy, coordinated steps during the British presidency of the UN Security Council.

We will also remind that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga and the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held a meeting in Brussels. They are the situation on the battlefield, key defense needs, long-range capabilities and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.
