Next year, the need for external budget financing is about 38 billion dollars, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

But, according to him, in order to fully close the entire budget deficit, it is necessary to use Russian assets frozen in the West, therefore one of the main tasks now is to agree on a mechanism by which Ukraine will be able to receive 50 billion dollars by the end of the year.

“We are actively moving this process forward. There is a political decision of the G7 countries. Today, during a meeting in Kyiv with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, we will discuss the details of how we can speed up the necessary decisions. We are waiting for positive news in this direction,” he said.

The Prime Minister reminded that last week the government approved the draft state budget for 2025, today this document was presented in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the government, in 2023, the state budget of Ukraine received 42.6 billion dollars of external financing.
